OLIVER HEATH TO TAKE TO THE FLOOR, AT THE CEDIA HOME TECHNOLOGY EVENT

28th May, 2010

With its varied content and high-profile speakers, the Show Floor Seminar Theatre has always been a highlight of the annual CEDIA exhibition and this year’s Home Technology Event (training: 14-17 June 2010, exhibition 15-17 June 2010, ICC London ExCeL) will be no exception. Architectural designer, writer and television presenter, Oliver Heath will be taking to the floor as part of the line-up which also includes Executive Producer of BBC HD, Ian Potts and John Dollin, Product Development Manager for Sky 3D.

Perhaps best known for his work as one of the main presenters and designers on BBC's Changing Rooms, Oliver’s design and sustainability knowledge have made him a trusted expert in the national media including BBC1, 2, ITV, Channel 4 and the Discovery Channel and an author of three design books. Oliver will be sharing the benefit of his expertise with those at the CEDIA Home Technology Event on Wednesday 16th June with an insightful examination of why ‘Great Green Homes need Great Green Technology’. As part of this seminar, Oliver will be talking about how aspirational sustainability and good design can be brought together in a variety of mediums; from eco consultancy, architecture, eco interior design, product design and writing. He will also be talking about his own experiences integrating technology into his home in Brighton.

HDMI, 3D, smart meters and the digital future are just some of the issues that will also come under close scrutiny as part of the Show Floor Seminar Theatre’s varied and exciting line-up. Executive Producer of BBC HD, Ian Potts and John Dollin, Product Development Manager for Sky 3D, will be giving audiences the broadcaster’s perspective on HD and 3D content delivery in the home whilst Terry Rowbury from The British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers Association (BEAMA) will be taking a look at the topic of Smart Energy. As part of this seminar, Terry will be exploring how smart metering, with its integration of real time knowledge of consumption patterns, will impact on decisions for energy generation and distribution.

Also taking to the stage will be Lucy Martin, Design Director of John Cullen Lighting who will guide visitors through the new Building Regulations coming out later this year and the implications for lighting design. Exploring the latest light sources, she will demonstrate how to meet the regulations whilst retaining mood and atmosphere throughout the house and garden. And, the current business performance of the technical durables market will be the topic of discussion when Nigel Catlow, Business Group Director for Consumer Electronics at GfK takes to the floor. He will be giving invaluable insight into the market, its latest developments and formats, such as LED and Blu Ray and the latest position of cross category features, such as HD and audio docking.

The Show Floor Seminar Theatre will also play host to some of the industry’s own experts, who will be on hand to give their unique insight into the technologies that will shape the future of residential custom installation. The legendary Michael Heiss will return with Steve Moore to present a fast-paced run-through of the brand new products and technologies you should look out for at the show, as part of their Pre Game Show feature. The inimitable duo will also return, on the last day of the show, with a Post Game Show retrospective analysis of the trends and technologies that have defined the event.

Further details of the Show Floor Seminar Theatre programme can be found within the Seminar Guide which is now available, on request, from the CEDIA Office or downloadable from the website, www.hometechnologyevent.co.uk.  All sessions in the theatre will be free of charge. Availability will be limited and offered on a strictly first come, first served basis on the day.
