19th May, 2010

A packed CEDIA Home Technology Event awaits those visiting the ICC London ExCeL this year (training: 14-17 June; exhibition 15-17 June 2010). Organisers have revealed that the show will feature more brands taking up a larger amount of floor space than in 2009, more high-profile speakers in the topical Show Floor Seminar Theatre programme, an exciting 3D feature and major industry networking events, including the CEDIA drinks reception.

Among the significant new exhibitors to sign up for the residential CI industry’s annual UK show are Freesat, Invision, Legrand and Parrot. These companies join the likes of Amina, Artcoustic, Asheridge, AWE Europe, BMB Electronics, Crestron, Draper, Extra Vegetables, Fasttel, Future Automation, Genesis Technologies, Gira, Habitech, HDMI over IP, JVC, Kaleidescape, KNX, Naim, Premier Mounts, Philips Dynalite, Pulse Marketing, Rako, RGB Communications, Sensible Heat, Smart-e and Sonos who will all be taking part in this year’s event. In total, with 95% of the available 4,345m2 floor space now taken, more than 150 CI brands will be on show at the event.

Highlights in the popular Show Floor Seminar Theatre include TV designer Oliver Heath who will headline the programme, speaking on integrating technology within good interior design at 3 PM on Wednesday 16th June. Other speakers include John Dollin from Sky and Ian Potts from the BBC who will tackle the issue of 3D. Terry Rowberry from the Smart Metering Association will look at the integration opportunity presented to installers by the introduction of smart home energy meters, whilst Lucy Martin from John Cullen Lighting will speak on new Building Regulations affecting new lighting systems in the home. Nigel Catlow from industry research body, GFK will present an analysis of consumer buying trends in the AV and home cinema sectors.

The Show Floor Seminar Theatre programme is part of CEDIA’s extensive education offering for visitors attending the event. This will also include a wide range of CEDIA-led courses, panels and workshops aimed at improving skill-sets across a variety of disciplines in the CI sector, as well as a series of conferences targeting interior design, architectural, building services consultant and electrical contracting audiences. Details of the full education programme for the event, including the cost-saving Passport to Education initiative, are available in the Seminar Guide which can be viewed or downloaded at the www.hometechnologyevent.co.uk website. Places can also be booked online.

Meanwhile, the dedicated 3D feature will bring a truly immersive 3D experience to the show floor, the kind of which has never been seen before at an exhibition in the UK. The feature, which has been put together with the help and support of event exhibitors, will incorporate a 4m acoustically transparent screen and 3D content provided by Sky.

CEDIA will host an industry drinks reception on the evening of Tuesday 15th June. Among the other major networking events at the show will be the Crestron Integration Awards which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 16th June.
