NICEIC SUPPORTS CEDIA’S SMART HOME SEMINARS FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS

1st March, 2010

NICEIC, the electrical contracting industry’s independent voluntary body for electrical installation matters throughout the UK, has announced its backing for the “Wired for Technology” conference, organized by CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) in association with Professional Electrician magazine.

“Wired for Technology” will take place at ExCeL London on the morning of Thursday 17th June at this year’s Home Technology Event (www.hometechnologyevent.co.uk). It is designed to help electrical contractors find out how they can get involved and profit from the smart homes market and will feature a series of presentations covering opportunities in the sector, including a session led by Tony Cable, Senior Marketing and Events Executive at the NICEIC. The morning will also include a guided tour of the 100+ exhibitors who typically occupy the event’s show floor so contractors can familiarise themselves with the key brands and products.

The “Wired for Technology” conference will be a key part of CEDIA’s Home Technology Event, the only annual trade show and education event in the UK dedicated to the design, installation and integration of home electronic systems.

“We’re delighted to have the NICEIC support for this conference” says Matt Nimmons, Operations Director at CEDIA. “With their support we can take the message out to the electrical contracting sector where there is a genuine appetite for knowledge about the smart homes industry. This is a fantastic chance for contractors to find out about the opportunities and how they can gear themselves up to succeed within it”.

“NICEIC is delighted that CEDIA has invited Tony Cable to speak at the ‘Wired for Technology’ conference at ExCel in June. Tony has been working in the electrical contracting industry for over 50 years and has witnessed first hand a lot of technology changes to the average British house, since he started as an apprentice back in 1957. NICEIC recognise that the ‘smart homes’ sector represents an excellent future business opportunity for many NICEIC registered contractors, so is keen to support this event” adds Mark Smith, Marketing Manager, NICEIC.

A full conference programme will be available shortly.  For more information about CEDIA, visit www.hometechnologyevent.co.uk.
