CEDIA EXPO TO HOST INTERIOR DESIGN CONFERENCE25th March, 2009CEDIA Expo, the only annual trade event in the UK dedicated to the design, installation and integration of home electronic systems, is to host “Designing Interiors with Technology”, a conference for interior designers explaining how they can enhance their interior design schemes with integrated audio, visual, lighting and other technologies. The conference is sponsored the BIDA (British Interior Design Association), leading interior design magazine idFX, and Decorex, the interior design show for professionals. The conference is a free half day education event at CEDIA Expo taking place on the morning of Wednesday 24th June at the ExCeL London venue. Sessions will feature presentations from Decorex exhibitors Kensington Home Technology, John Cullen Lighting and others. The event will promote the benefits of including smart home technology in residential interior design projects as well as introducing CEDIA itself and the work of its members.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the interior design community to attend a focused event and learn about how to add value to their projects by working with a custom installer” explains Fraser Stride, Outreach Chair on the CEDIA Board. “Delegates will also have the chance to visit the show floor at CEDIA Expo and see the latest products and technologies first hand and talk to the exhibitors about upcoming projects.”
“BIDA is delighted to support this special conference at CEDIA Expo 2009. Attending this event will help designers understand the world of the CEDIA professional better, and recognise the common purpose that we share in creating stunning schemes which meet the lifestyles and aspirations of our clients” explains Iris Dunbar, President of The British Interior Design Association. “The most successful interiors come about from establishing a sound brief and this is exactly the same with electronic installations. Defining and incorporating the brief before beginning the design process, helps to establish a truly great project.”
The conference will provide an introduction to CEDIA and what its members do, explain what interior designers need to know about home cinema rooms and provide a home electronics technology ‘jargon-buster’. The event will also take a look at trends in home electronics technology, issues in lighting control, and what’s around the corner that interior designers should be aware of.
The conference will followed by a light lunch and then CEDIA board members will provide guided tours of Expo, providing interior designers with a taste of what the smart home industry can offer them. For those wishing to spend more time talking with exhibitors, the rest of the afternoon will be free to explore stands of a particular interest in greater detail.
CEDIA Expo will take place at ExCeL London from 22nd to 25th June 2009 (training: 22nd to 25th June; exhibition: 23rd to 25th June).
